Stuck With Barres? |
Hey , Stu sent me a heart warming email about his late friend Bob who gave him some gentle and simple advice about barre chords. Bob said... "Just keep playing, they will just come to you. Keep enjoying playing." At first this might seem unguided and rudimentary
advice. But barre chords can only be achieved (both pressing them down hard enough and changing fast enough) by persistent repetition. You will have to make barre chords more than open chords to achieve them. A LOT MORE! There is technique involved, but it's only 20% of the whole process. But let's not forget Bobs last part. "Keep enjoying
playing" This is the essential ingredient for all that persistence and repetition. It's the reason I have a section at LGIL with a whole list of barre chord songs. It's here if you need
it By playing barres in songs it keeps that enjoyment and motivation strong. As teachers we can only show you the path. We can encourage and motivate you to walk down it, but ultimately you must recognise and nurture that motivation within yourself. The barre chord journey is a fantastic example of that. Keep on playing, Drue James www.LearnGuitarInLondon.com Not a LGIL Premium Member yet? Learn more and join the waitlist |
