Hey , learning guitar alone can be difficult to see your progress. The common line of "I thought I'd be better at this by now" is often a sign that progress isn't being appreciated. Progress often happens gradually as new muscles and brain connections grow. While it's great to
have goals there is an element of trusting the process and allowing yourself patience. This is where the old cliché of "it's ALL about the journey NOT the destination" comes in I guess that's only said by people who haven't taken a flight with a budget airline! (Ha, I digress...) There are methods to appreciate your progress: 1: Record yourself (quick
video with your phone) attempting a song in the first week of learning it. DON'T WATCH THAT VIDEO until you've been learning the song for 4 weeks. Then watch it and see the difference. 2: Use a metronome. Start very slow with a metronome and as you improve you'll be able to increase the speed. 3: Take one to one lessons. Having a regular check in with a teacher is not
only great for your practice accountability but you also get feedback on how much you've progressed. I currently have availability for 3 new students for either once a month or fortnightly slots. Lessons are taught via Google Meet and the trial lesson is free. I teach Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm (London time) with occasional Saturday mornings. If you want to talk about
starting lessons just send a reply to this email with a brief description of your guitar journey so far and what style of guitar (songs/artists) you like learning. Keep on playing and have a great weekend, Drue James www.LearnGuitarInLondon.com |
