Hey , I've had my fair share of midlife crisis in the last 5 years. But instead of seeing them as a crisis I'm calling them a midlife transition. It started off with a feeling of boredom and restlessness. The routine of life was getting me down. Everything felt predictable and
meaningless. When I don't have challenges in my life I stagnate. And between you and me I get a little self destructive! I decided to get some therapy, talk things through and my first transition begun. I learnt a lot more about myself and processed emotions that I had burried. The next transition was working in a more sociable
way. I couldn't find the energy to film any guitar lessons and I realised I now work better when I'm with other people. So I asked my long time friend Dave to help with filming. He now makes all my videos and this got me filming again. I work much better when I'm accountable with other people. I started off as a loner, but as time goes on I realise I'm at my most
productive and creative with other people around. Another midlife transition. And I'm beginning to welcome them. I like the challenges that they bring. Can you resonate with what I'm saying here? Perhaps learning guitar and playing music was part of your transition? If you're comfortable sharing let me know times in your life where
there's been a shift and you've learnt more about yourself. Keep on playing, Drue James www.LearnGuitarInLondon.com |
