Where to find the devil?

Hey , at school my teachers told me I was terrible with details. "He has good ideas, but his execution is lacking in detail." And I used to think, who cares about dotting the i's and crossing the t's. The devil is in the detail and this was a great reason to avoid
it. And my guitar playing reflected this ideology for at least 8 years. I could play songs and even fingerstyle but it often lacked detail. What is detail in guitar playing? A simple example is checking your chords for buzzing or muted strings. When you strum chords it's easy to hide your lack of detail with chord tone inside the
strum. But when you focus and pick each string in the chord that's where the lack of detail becomes painful. Check those chords. Especially new ones and bar chords. But it's ok to make friends with the devil for better chord tone and accuracy. Dive into the details and keep on playing, Drue James www.LearnGuitarInLondon.com |
