Hey , playing the same old stuff only gets you so far. But don't get me wrong... It's a lot of fun. And you can pottle away for an hour on the same old songs and realise you haven't progressed at all. Like everything in life effective practice is about
balance Getting that tipping point of enjoying playing guitar vs learning and pushing yourself. I suggest always finishing a practice by playing songs you know and love. Finish on a high. In the middle go out of your comfort zone. Learn a new style. A new technique. A new theory. Perhaps record yourself playing guitar. Listen back,
see what you think. How can you improve? Make a commitment to learn in each practice and what you end up "playing and finding easy" in 2 months time will impress you even further. Master that balance between playing and learning. It's worth it. |
