Hey , I'm two cups of coffee into the day and the sun is shining onto my hands as I write this to you... Whatever stage of guitar playing you're at there's always time to go back to basics. And while some of us aren't beginners in one area, we're likely to be a beginner in others. It
takes resilience and curiosity to go back to the beginner stages. For example, theory, a new guitar style, ear study, scales, fretboard knowledge, improvisation, sight reading. But today I want to talk about strumming! Going back to basic with a simple 4 or 5 chord song and refining your strumming is a useful and fun thing to do. Give this a
go... 2:) Make sure you can play the chords and the strumming pattern without stopping. 3:) Check you're being
accurate with strumming the right strings for each chord 4:) Can you improvise and add in other strums into your chosen song? Can you play with accents and bass notes? By going back to basics we can refine our technique further. Keep on playing, Drue James www.LearnGuitarInLondon.com |
