roots (of drue) |
Hey , recently it's been difficult to share with you. Our 5 children are in 3 different schools and at the end of the school year the routine goes haywire! On top of that I had a wonderful but extremely busy event last weekend (Stratford Weekend Guitar Retreat) And to cap it all our not
so faithful cat "Nutmeg" was missing for 8 days. Turns out he was eating dinner in loads of other people's houses on our road. I could continue to list the reasons... but I'm here writing you this email... I've found the time. And when the routine goes crazy (as in life it often does and we don't get any notice) then finding the time for things we love can take a
backseat. I do enjoy writing to you. Like I'm sure we both enjoy playing guitar. But when life shakes our tree it's often our self care (be it playing guitar, painting a picture etc...) that suffers. "I feel guilty for enjoying my past time when there are things to worry about." It can be easy for me to get caught in this
loop. But taking time to play guitar or write our thoughts down can help ground us. So when the wind blows hard and our tree gets battered it's our roots that keeps us grounded. I believe that music, art, family, spirituality (if that's your thing), pets and all of those things that bring us a sense of meaningfulness are the roots to our tree. Feeding those roots is
important. Otherwise our tree could get knocked over. Take some time for you. Keep on playing,
